Can any advise on how to get a lower interest rate on my MBNA credit card? |
I have had a credit card with MBNA for a couple of years now it started on a 0% interest balance transfer but they have kept increasing the interest rate so it is now 34% as a result I am barely paying anything off each month after they have taken the interest, I don't think the option of another balance transfer is open to me as the balance is quite large, but I wanted to know if anyone had any advice on how to go about asking them to lower the interest rate to something more manageable?
Answer (by mjghunter):
Look for a balance transfer for try to get a personal loan at a local bank. Cut up the card and never use it again.

It looks like your request has attracted some spam adverts! Your best way to get a credit card is to go to a local bank with a good reputation. I would avoid online only companies. The bad news is all credit card companies charge high rates of interest.
Good luck with your studies.

Answer (by jazzski40):
try www.moneysupermarket.co.uk or similar. your best bet is to go for a low interest for life balance at around 4.75% and try a couple rather than all in one go as that might put lenders off.. hope thats helps xx

Answer (by katie):
Credit Cards from your own bank are usually the best. They know your financial situation better than any, and because of this, aim to find a card with interest rates that suit your needs more specifically.
