Car CD Player not working after flat battery? |
My car wouldn't start the other day becoz the battery was flat, its been charged up and is working again now, but the CD player in my car isn't..it wont even switch on or anything!?! What could be wrong? Thnx x x How can i enter a code..theres nothing to do that with and it wont switch on at all
Answer (by KaeZoo):
If there's no power and no display on your radio, chances are it's not an anti-theft code.
Occasionally, charging or jump-starting a dead battery can result in blown vehicle fuses. Check your fuses. There may be more than one fuse that supplies radio power, and they may not all be labeled as radio fuses. If there are any other accessories that aren't working, that might be an indicator of the fuse to check. See if your dome light, cigarette lighter, door chimes and power locks are working.
If you have a digital multimeter available, here's how to quickly check all your fuses. Don't forget to look for a fuse box under the hood. http://kzcarfi.blogspot.com/2008/08/testing-vehicle-fuses-with-multimeter.html

Answer (by ron):
The average life span of a battery is two years, all the symptoms indicate that it's past it's sell by date so to speak.
A simple check at your local garage will confirm this and they will only be too glad to do it for you, unless you prefer doing these things yourself.

![]() | How do I find what is causing my car battery to go flat after two days of non use. |
I have been told the battery and alternater are in good condition. This means there must be an open curciut somewhere that is draining the power. Has anybody any ideas where to look. I have no access to any volt meters. I have left the battery disconnected for to days and it does not go flat. It is only when I leave it connected.
Answer (by Spike H):
pull the fuses one at a time, and when your problem stops you will know what circuit is causing the battery to drain, l had a ford which had the same problem, l found out that the alternator was charging the battery by day but at night it was reversing itself and drawing the power back out of the battery... try obvious first , the light in the boot , and the one in the glove box.

my car battery goes flat when i connect my car amp it is all connected but as soon as i turn the car over it starts to go flat but when i disconnect it the car will start but it only does it when the apm is connected to the battery
Answer (by ryan_triggz):
Yes it looks like your amp is using too much of your cars power you will need to buy a capicator which will help alot and should even make your sound system sound better .

How to prevent a car battery from going flat if the car is not used ? |
I'm keeping a car that I do not use (going to sell it). Is running the motor for 15 mn once in a while enough or should I drive it ? (forgive my ignorance, all hints and tips welcome) thanks it about 1400cc, petrol, Mitsubishiif that can help
Answer (by Lee):
To put a car in a state of storage, several things should be done.
Firstly the battery will sulphate and discharge itself within a matter of weeks unless it's brand new. Remove it from the car and connect it to a trickle charger. Or, depending on how old the battery is, it may be worth just buying a new battery when you want to use the car again.
Secondly the brakes, gearbox, wheel bearings and engine need to be 'excercised' maybe once a week by starting the car, allowing it to heat to normal temperature and driving it up and down the road using the brakes and handbrake. If this is not done then the brakes will sieze up and these are expensive to replace.
You should also make sure the car is well topped up with clean oil and water/antifreeze.
Finally, clean the car and under wheel arches, door and boot sills etc, or dirt will retain moisture and may rust the car, and then spray all locks, hinges and cables with WD-40 or similar.
Hope this helps ;-)

![]() | My car battery went flat and now the radio won't work without a code. Anyone know how I can get the code pls? |
Answer (by Sick214):
cant help you much without the proper information given like, what car is it, what stereo it has, year/model.
most american cars are easy to get their codes tho. but for europeans, you will need to have the serial number of the stereo and the vin number of the car the stereo was originally installed in. dealers cannot get the radio code without that information.
either way, try to search for the vehicles' owners manual and look under the audio equipment/stereo section. they should have the code written somewhere in that section as well as instructions saying how to put the code in the stereo.

![]() | Charging flat car battery.? |
After bump starting a car does it make sense to drive around with lights on to charge the battery quicker.
Answer (by mekhanic7):
charge the battery and drive it 20 mins or more without any accessories on, the general rule of thumb is 20 mins or 20 miles.

![]() | If i have a flat battery and jump start the car should the electrics then run off the alternator? |
If the engine is running but the lights are dim, does it point to a defective battery or alternator?
Answer (by bayliner6065):
usually an alternator-----most alternators today have a built in voltage regulator----if lights are dimm the regulator part is not working properly---most auto stores can check this for you---
