My does my driving licence expire?

On my photocard licence, under section 11 it says my licence expires 2051, which is correct as I'll be 70 then. However under section 4b where is says 'valid to' it says 10-03-09. How come? It's a full licence, no points or anything. This is in the UK be the way Will the government charge me for a new photocard then? Will it be illegal to drive?

This means you have an endorsement, how long it lasts depends on what the offence was, a drink-drive endorsement for example expires after 11 years

Full UK driving licences don't expire, so it would appear you're still using a provisional. Either you haven't taken and passed the tests or you haven't exchanged your provisional and pass certificate for a full licence. If you don't claim your test pass within two years of the date of your test, the driving entitlement, in which you gained the test pass, will be lost. You'll have to take and pass both parts of the driving test again for that category of vehicle if you wish to have it included on your driving licence. The only other possibility is that you've reached the age of 70, in which case you'll have been notified that you need to make a declaration of continuing fitness - that's all that's required.

It will depend on the rules of your state, and the time that the license has expired! If it has only expired a short time, most likely you will not need to take the test again. Check with your state's DMV or equivalent to see what is required!

it should say on your photocard (if you have one,) they expire completly when you are 70 BUT THE PHOTO CARD MINE FOR EXAMPLE EXPIRES IN 2017 BECAUSE OF YOUR APPEARANCE THROUGH AGE CHANGE. (photo expires when you age but the paper part (actual licence) expires when you are 70).

I was asked by a 70 something year old man what happens if he was not notified his driving licence due renewel and he has just discovered it expired some months ago.I said notify the licence office will he be O,K.to get his renewel?

A paper driving licence holder will automatically be sent a D46P application form 90 days before their 70th birthday from the DVLA so maybe it got lost in the post so contact DVLA for a new one, no medical is required. Does my driving test pass certificate expire after two years (i have not applied for my licence yet)?

I passed my test 7 years ago, but never got round to ordering my licence. Do I have to sit the test again in order to get the paper licence?
