If I already have a driving licence & I want to pass my motorcycle test?

Do I still have to do the highway code test & written test?

Answer (by mully):
yes you do. there are different rules for when you ride a motorcycle. My husband has just taken his. when you start learning to ride a cycle with an instructor the course i think lasts about 2 mths in which in the fee your highway code, written test and bike test are included. my husbands cost roughly £650. But dont worry as you will be given a dvd which is a huge help. plus you will have example tests where you watch a clip and have to click the mouse on a dangerous spot.

i have my driving test on monday but lost my licence?

its the paper part i have lost can i still do my test with just my card??

Answer (by CDT):
No definitely not I'm afraid. You need to produce both parts of your photocard licence. If you do not take both parts of your licence your test will not take place and you will lose your fee. There's no point in turning up for your test and hoping for the best, because the examiner has no discretion in this - you MUST produce both parts of your licence or there will be no test. If you can't find the paper part of your licence, then you'll need to apply for a replacement photocard driving licence before you re-book your Practical Test.

Answer (by J G):
No, unless an extended retest is ordered, you just reapply with the form they send; http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring/DriverLicensing/EndorsementsAndDisqualifications/DG_4022491

i have a full driving licence .do i need to take a tbt test to ride a125cc motorcycle

Answer (by Ant):
Yes, you need to complete a CBT before legally being able to ride a <125cc motorcycle. This will continue to expire every 2 years if you do not take a further motorcycle theory and practical test while your CBT certificate is still valid. You must also display 'L' plates ('D' plates in Wales) front and rear.

cbt tests? can anybody xplain cbt tests im 43 with a full driving licence living on the isle of man,

can anybody xplain cbt tests im 43 with a full driving licence living on the isle of man, do i need to do one, whats it about, how much does it cost? tks so can i drive a 125cc now?

Answer (by murphywingedspur):
Dreamdre almost has it right.....reghrdless of wether you have a full driving license, if you are learning to ride a motorbike, you must have 'L' plates. If you intend to ride a motorbike, then it is a good idea to take your CBT test. My husband and I both took ours about two years ago, we had a great instructor, who took us up from a 125cc through to a 500cc to enable us to take our tests on a bigger bike. We actually took an intensive course which included the CBT, and the full motorcycle test, which at the time cost us about £600 each. My husband now has a Honda CBR 900 Fireblade, and I have a Kawasaki CBZ500 Check for more up to date information on the DVLA website.

Since passing my driving test, I lost the provisional licence....?

Do I need to complete a D1, pay for a replacement provisional , and THEN exchange it for a full one (along with my test pass certificate) or can I do it all in one go by just sending my test past certificate and photo id etc and ticking both the "replace" and "exchange" boxes on the form. Also, would i need to pay a fee if it was just being exchanged to a full licence? thanks it wasnt; sent off at the time of the test because I was missing the paper counterpart or something. can't really remember..it was a while ago.

Answer (by cdw763):
This really depends on your state/province. Check with the [local] branch of your DMV/BMV/DOT and ask them. One state I lived in I could do everything in one transaction, whereas another, I had to mail/submit three things at three times for the same out outcome.
